Thank goodness the snow stayed away last weekend for the Training and Assessment days held at Arena UK on the 12th and 13th February!
In the morning of the 13th of February there were eleven candidates forward to judge a very exciting WHP competition ( which was not without a few mishaps!) Of the eleven candidates forward we are pleased to announce that Helen Taylor, Sue Hughes, Laura Myatt, Rosemary Keeling, Tamara Strapp and Sally Chamberlain were successful in passing the assessment and will all go onto further probation judging, some having to complete one year and others two. We would like to thank our fantastic “jockeys” Philip Armson, Heidi Coy, Samantha Bell, Katie Phipps, Abbie Norris, Emily Hingley and Isabel White who brought their ponies and gave their time freely for this day. Well done!
In the afternoon the excitement continued with the combined SP/SHP assessment. Candidate’s nerves were of course running high! We had seventeen candidates forward to judge what turned out to be a quite a “tricky” class! Fourteen of these candidates were passed for further probation judging. Congratulations go to Michelle Hutley, Alan Brooke, Aimee Hoare, Jane Makin, Hayley Greenhalgh, Clare Redgate, Eleanor Corkett, Amy Tweedale, Natalie Middlemas, Celia Bagnall, Jonathan Geake, Jodie Briars, Katie Iggulden and Simon Parker.
Huge thanks to John Harvey, Edward Young and Dinah Rose who provided the ponies, together with our fantastic riders Greer and Brogan Taverner, Sophie and Jessica Hunt, Emma Lucas and Courtney Harvey.
Of course the day would not happen without our wonderful BSPS officials ....... most from the Assessment Committee which is Chaired by Nigel Hollings and supported by the Vice Chair Joanne Griffin. Many thanks therefore go to to assessors Simon Somers, Philip Hilton, Pat Pattinson, Sharon Thomas, Pat Monaghan, Joy Hall , Dawn Christie and John Hall together with scribes Sue Williams and Rosemary Hilton. Karen Ward looked after administration and John Hall and Peter Ball were the wonderful course builders. Thanks also to Simon Richardson and Terry Pattinson who did a great job of Stewarding in what ended up a long but very enjoyable day!! We hope all who took part enjoyed themselves and hope that those who were not so successful this year will use it as a learning curve and try again next year.
